FREEDOM BRIDGE AND VETERAN SUPPORTERS:

The Havasu Freedom Foundation (formerly the Freedom Bridge Foundation) invites all who would like to honor a veteran to order an engraved brick. Bricks are placed in the Freedom Walkway near the London Bridge in Lake Havasu City.  When the future Veterans Tribute Park is built, veterans' bricks will be moved to the Veterans Park.

The Walkway runs along the Bridgewater Channel and also contains “76 Moments of Freedom” plaques. The first six plaques are in place, and more will be added over time. When complete, the 76 plaques will tell the story of America’s freedoms, and as visitors wander along the Walkway they will be able to learn how America acquired its freedoms.

Bricks may also be engraved to honor a family member, an anniversary, graduation, an organization, club, or group—the ideas are limitless.

For more information, and to order a brick, visit www.havasufreedomfoundation.com or call 877-202-8215 from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Chapter 975 has an opportunity to raise funds through a partnership with the Lake Havasu Freedom Foundation. The second bridge to the island, to be called The Freedom Bridge, will be built in honor of all veterans. Next to the bridge will be a Veterans Park and Memorial Walkway. The Park and Walkway will be paid for through the sale of memorial bricks, as well as by corporate funding. The Walkway will be paved with the bricks from the London Bridge to the new Freedom Bridge, a distance of about a half mile. Along the Walkway will be large markers that will tell the story of America’s quest for its freedoms.

Our chapter has signed on as a partner with the Freedom Bridge Project. This means that every person who purchases a memorial brick can designate that $5 of the purchase price go to a veterans or civic organization.

The sale of Memorial Bricks will continue for a number of years, giving us the chance to raise money for some time to come. But we have to start spreading the word to friends and families and encourage them to purchase bricks to honor someone special. Remind them to choose “Vietnam Veterans of America Chap. 975” in the drop-down menu so $5 of their purchase will come to us.

Visit www.havasufreedombridge.com and place your order soon.

VOLUNTEER: The Freedom Bridge Project would like our input to ensure that veterans are respectfully honored. If you’d like to volunteer on a committee, call AVVA member Judy Lacey at 855-8470 or 846-2377 (cell).

Another way we can help is by submitting the names and info on veterans and currently serving soldiers. These names will be presented to corporate sponsors who wish to honor a soldier or veteran by purchasing a brick for him/her. This info is needed immediately, so please submit your information to Judy at judylacey@aol.com. Provide name, service info, years served, medals awarded, involvement after service with veterans affairs/legislation or charity organizations, etc. Provide a photo if possible, and try to keep to 200 words or so.

Freedom Bridge Group

Receives Luke Award

LAKE HAVASU CITY, AZ – The Bullhead City-based group Veterans United Inc. has selected the Freedom Bridge Foundation (FBF)

as this year’s recipient of the Organizational Luke Award, named after Arizona’s Medal of Honor recipient, Frank Luke, a World

War I aviator who died in combat. The awards are presented

annually in various categories, including Individual Male, Female, Government, Media, Business, Youth and Veterans United

Member.
“We are truly honored to be receiving this award,” FBF

President Brian Wedemeyer told TSN. “The Foundation’s

volunteers are working tirelessly to create a Veterans

Memorial like no other in the country, and it’s wonderful to be recognized for those efforts.”
The Luke Awards will be presented on Veterans Day,

November 11th, at Arizona Veterans Memorial Park in

Bullhead City.
FBF is a non-profit group raising money to enhance an already-planned bridge construction project in Lake Havasu City. The Freedom Bridge, which will be located about a half-mile north

of the world famous London Bridge, will honor all Veterans,

past and present. The foundation’s primary fundraiser is

through the sale of engraved bricks along the Memorial

Walkway connecting the two bridges. The Memorial Walkway

also will feature the "76 Moments of Freedom,” which is

currently being developed by Arizona State University’s

public history program. To purchase an engraved brick,
